Clay (or mud) is my first love. Music is my second. Sometimes they live off each other - some times they live in their own separate spaces - but both live within me. I have had amazing teachers in clay - they encouraged experimentation and exploration in the medium. They inspire me still. (my third love is hiking)
I have moved in and out of the medium over the years. I started in scultpure and more recently I seem to LOVE throwing on the wheel (a first). All my pieces are one-of-a-kind - and none of them are perfect - a practice I embrace...I like things to look like the medium in which they were made - and clay can have a mind of its own (as do my fingers).
My pieces are usually frames/containers for food. I am a total foodie - love cooking and eating equally and I get really excited when I see food one of my pieces the colors all coming together. I really like holding a mug of something - cradling it in my hands - and taking in the scent of what is to come inside.
I am always experimenting with color & patterns. I tend, these days to make mid-fire (cone 5) electric kiln pieces (and glazes) that are food, dishwasher and microwave safe.
The studio I am part of is located in the mountains of Gilpin County, CO near Boulder and Denver. It's lovely here - and so are my fellow mud folks at the Gilpin Pottery Studio. I have been teaching beginning ceramics there since 2016, and it's been an awesome time - and i can't wait to see what happens next!
I hope you enjoy what you find here. You can always ask me to create something unique too. Pieces will be updated month to month as things come out of the kiln.
OH and if you want to hear what I do too - feel free to visit mudmusic.com
